With Halloween less than a week away, thoughts turn to things that go bump in the night.   Did you know that there are a wide variety of vacation spots and events specifically geared towards helping us scare ourselves silly?  Whether you are looking for a fun time for the whole family or are looking for something spookier, there’s a vacation package out there for you.

Going to Disney is always top on any family’s wish list of a vacation place.  And even the world’s most famous mouse gets into the Halloween holiday spirit with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  Running from September through October 31st, this family friendly event in Orlando, Florida includes trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom, a parade led by Mickey himself and a fabulous fireworks display.

Another family friendly place to visit during October is Anoka, Minnesota which is the self-proclaimed “Halloween Capital of the World”.  Started in the 1920’s, this wonderful tradition has some fabulous festivities like the Orange Tie Ball, Orange Tie Ball, Miss Anoka Beauty Pageant, Gray Ghost Run, Pumpkin Carving Contest and a Grand Day Parade.  There is also a Chili Cook-off, as well as walking ghost tours.

Six Flags Theme Parks also get into the swing of things for Halloween.  Complete with cobwebs, fog and ghostly appearances, Six Flags makes the most of Halloween.  During the day children can join up with the Bugs Bunny Gang for Twick or Tweet, enjoy a magic show and watch the sea lions and dolphins.  At night, things get a little scarier with haunted houses, live theater and Scare Zones.   Six Flags provides safe spots throughout the park in the evenings for children as well as “Scaredy-Cats” so that no matter what time you visit Six Flags during October, you are guaranteed to have a Scary and Spooky Good Time.
