The Authors After Dark convention in New Orleans was absolutely AMAZING and I am so looking forward to next year’s convention! The Royal Sonesta Hotel, this year’s venue, was the perfect location for the urban fantasy and paranormal con. We were right on Bourbon Street and in the center of all the action.
This was another total fan-girl experience! Not only did I get to reconnect with some of the authors I met at the Romance Writers of America Conference, I was able to meet some of my other favorites! These authors never cease to amaze me, their personalities are priceless!
About the Con
The main focus of this convention — the reader author relationship. It included author panels, authors at all the tables during meals, a masquerade ball, author led field-trips, and the Bookie Awards (think the Oscars of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance.)
These authors know how to have fun and laugh a lot. This was one of my favorite panels: Sci-Fi/Fantasy. (See picture below: T.J. Michaels, Samantha Kane, Damon Suede, Lia Habel, Jade Lee, and Jessa Slade)

Authors After Dark 2013 will be held in Savannah, Georgia…can’t wait! Want to experience this yourself, tickets are available. Would love to see you there with me in August 2013.

Conference/conventions like these are fun! Wish I could attend all of them.
Also sounds as if it was informal enough to maintain intimacy and access to all participants. That’s when conferences are great and where you can create real bonds. And N.O. to boot! 😉
Absolutely! Many of the author who attended this year will be back for next year’s event. And with social media, these bonds can really develop.

Looks like everyone was having a great time. I haven;t been to New Orleans since before Katrina. Glad to know it is still a great destination/
The people in New Orleans have done so much to rebuild after Katrina, yet there is still so much more to do. It’s hard to believe I was there just two weeks ago and now they are dealing with hurricane Isaac. Luckily the storm isn’t as bad. We’ll see how much the improvements have helped.
