Happy New Year’s everybody.   2012 has some very exciting travel opportunities coming up; some of them are once in a lifetime events.

London is going to be the top spot to be this year.  Not only are the Summer Olympics taking place there from July 27 to August 12, but this year marks Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee June 2 to the 5th. And starting between these two events is the three month Art’s festival that includes everything from Shakespeare to street performers and music.  Another limited event is the Floriade in the Netherlands.  This once a decade event has some incredible floral and nature themes over a 160 acre park.   This lovely and fragrant event takes place in Venlo from April 5th to October 7th.

And if you are looking to stay in the United States, 2012 marks the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.  Some of the most popular travel spots to celebrate this anniversary include Norfolk, Virginia, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.  Special events include the display of tall ships, fireworks and a large number of educational events.  Celebrations start in June.

And April 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.  Belfast has a huge development on the waterfront that will include titanic themed gallery whose shape invokes the memory of the titanic herself.  There will also be a vast variety of hotels, eateries, parks and theaters.   Southampton England will also have an interactive museum among other things that focus on the different aspects of the titanic story.    And if traveling to Great Briton just isn’t in your budget this year, The Titanic Pigeon Forge in Tennessee has a half-scale 3 deck reproduction of the ship and plans a tribute on April 14.

What once in a lifetime event would you love to be able to see and how can I help you get there?
