I just want to take a moment to congratulate Keegan Bradley for winning his 1st PGA Grand Slam title on 10/19/2011.  It was just a single shot in a final round that gave him the edge over Charl Schwartzel. This proves that if you persevere, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

The PGA or Professional Golfers Association was founded in New York City in 1916.  It actually stemmed out of a luncheon given by Rodman Wanamaker, a wealthy department store owner that included several leading golf professionals of the day.  The luncheon was held at the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle and a month later, the PGA was formalized in New York City.

There are three tours operated by the PGA today, The PGA Tour which is the Top Tour, the Champions Tour which is for golfers 50 and over and the Nationwide tour which promotes skill development.  The majority of the tours are played in the United States.  Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico usually host one event from the Top Four each year and the UK and Dominican Republic traditionally host tournaments from the Championship tour.   The Nationwide Tour is played all over the globe, including Canada, Mexico, Panama, Australia and New Zealand.

Again, Congratulations Keegan Bradley on your win!

What location would you chose, if you could go to any one of the PGA tour spots?  Let me know and I’ll feature it in a future blog post!
