flickr.com Casual Camera CollectorLooking for something truly unique for a weekend getaway?  How about spending a weekend in a train car?  No, I’m not talking about taking Amtrak; I’m talking about an actual hotel created out of train cars.

The Northern Rail Hotel, located on 160 wooded acres in Minnesota, offers guests the chance to spend their vacation in suites created from old railway cars. Each car accommodates 1-5 guests, making it perfect for a romantic getaway or a family outing. This small, cozy, and unique hotel has just 18 rooms with Victorian, Safari, Oriental and Northwoods themes.

This hotel offers daily continental breakfasts, summertime bonfires, snow shoe rental, and a lending library of books and games as well as hi-speed Wi-Fi. The Northern Rail is also handicapped accessible. Sorry, they don’t allow pets.

Let Ingenious Travel book you passage in this creatively unique hotel for your next weekend getaway.

What is the most unique hotel you have ever stayed at?

  1. This sounds like a fun weekend. Our family took the train from Williams, Az to the Grand Canyon and had a great time, but that wasn’t an overnight trip. I’ve never been to Minnesota, so this could be a good way to see it.

  2. Seems like it would be creepy but when trying new things you have to take the “good” with the “creepy”…lol I’m up for it!
